Kushalnagar / Bylakuppe: About 90 km from Mysore. Bylakuppe is one of the largest Tibetan settlements outside Tibet. The Golden Temple (Namdroling Monastery) is genuinely striking — 20-metre gilded statues, functioning monastery, Tibetan food stalls outside. Add 45–60 minutes. Worth it.
Dubare Elephant Camp: On the Kaveri river near Kushalnagar. Elephant interaction sessions run at 8:30 am and 4 pm. Entry and activity fees apply (roughly ₹150 for entry, ₹600–1,000 for bathing/interaction). Book ahead on weekends. Good for families.
Harangi Dam: 10 km before Madikeri. Quick stop, nice view of the reservoir. Nothing more than 15 minutes.
